Pretend Shop is a family-friendly educational pretend-play app that turns a child's phone or tablet into an interactive experience where young players run a Cafe or Toy Store, build baskets, take orders and complete pretend payments while practising simple counting and decision-making.

Key Features

The app offers two themed shops to explore: a Cafe stocked with food, drinks, cereal and desserts, and a Toy Store with soft toys, games, arts & crafts and outdoor toys. Children build realistic orders by tapping items to add or remove them and watching totals update in real time. An allergy-aware menu in the Cafe lets players filter items by common allergens and displays allergy icons beside choices to support basic food-safety awareness. Tap to Pay uses NFC to simulate contactless payments between two devices, including cash register sounds and a confirming vibration for authentic role-play. Pretend Shop is customisable: children can name their store, pick a logo and choose background images so each play session feels personal. The interface is child-friendly with large, easy-to-tap buttons, colourful artwork and layouts that work in both portrait and landscape on phones and tablets.
