Velvet Forge is an early, 18+ sandbox toolkit for Android that centers on character and scene creation, letting players build, stage and preview custom scenarios directly on their device. Velvet Forge puts editing and experimentation first: instead of a fixed unlock path or a gallery of pre-made scenes, the app gives you raw building blocks — characters driven by blendshapes, modular props and environment pieces, simple particle elements and adjustable lights — so you can iterate on visuals, poses and short interactions. This build is an alpha snapshot intended for creators who want a hands-on, open-ended sandbox rather than a polished production.

Key Features

The core of Velvet Forge is deep customization and scene composition. Character appearance is driven by a library of blendshapes and adjustable parameters, enabling a wide range of facial and body variations. In Edit Mode you can spawn multiple characters, pose them, place and transform props, and arrange lighting to shape mood and silhouette. A Play Mode lets you preview interactions and basic scripted conversations to test timing and framing. Scenes can be saved locally and exported as JSON files for sharing or remixing by other players, and the current release includes an experimental procedural anatomical alignment system as well as a single proof-of-concept adult interaction designed to demonstrate the underlying interaction technology rather than a complete interaction set.

Gameplay and Controls

Velvet Forge uses touch-first controls designed for mobile editing workflows. You position characters and props with tap-and-drag gestures, use handles or multi-touch gestures for rotate and scale, and access contextual toolbars to switch between placement, posing and lighting controls. Posing tools let you adjust key body areas and facial blendshapes; small preview controls let you step through simple pose sequences and check how scenes read from different camera angles. Conversations and basic inventories are set up through compact editors, so you can compose short scripted moments and then immediately switch over to Play Mode to see how they behave in context.

Customization and Visual Style

The visual approach is intentionally modular and work-in-progress: assets are provided as a small but extendable library of furniture, architectural elements, props and basic geometry primitives. Lighting and particle controls are available to sketch atmosphere, and blendshapes allow subtle facial and expression work. Expect alpha-level aesthetics: models and textures are functional rather than highly polished, and the current focus is on giving creators flexible building blocks for staging, framing and iteration rather than delivering finished cinematics out of the box.

Progression and Replay Value

There is no traditional level progression or paywalled scene unlocks. Replay value arises from creative experimentation: building new characters, rearranging environments, exporting scenes as JSON to remix other players' work, and refining poses and lighting until a composition reads correctly. Because scenes are portable files, you can build a library of setups to reuse, combine or iterate on, encouraging exploratory workflows and incremental improvement rather than linear advancement.

Performance, Compatibility and Offline Play

Velvet Forge runs natively on Android and is aimed at devices capable of handling dense character meshes and real-time pose adjustments. Performance may vary: characters are currently resource-heavy, and lower-end devices can experience clipping, slowdowns or visual glitches. The app works as a primarily local editor and supports exporting and importing scene files so creators can save work, move it between devices or share it outside of any online service. Because the core functionality is file-based and local, many basic workflows are available offline.

Accessibility and User Experience

The interface favors approachable, tactile controls but the toolset carries a learning curve typical of creative sandboxes. Tooltips and contextual hints are included to help new users find essential controls, and an iterative workflow—place, pose, preview, export—keeps tasks short and focused. Community feedback is expected to shape usability refinements, additional tutorials and expanded in-app help as development proceeds.

Development and Version Information

This project is published by an independent developer who is releasing early builds to gather feedback and iterate quickly. The current public release is version 0.0.1, a very early alpha intended as a proof of concept. Planned improvements include more robust posing and animation tools, a broader asset library, performance optimizations and extensions to the procedural interaction systems. If you decide to try Velvet Forge, expect instability and experimental features, and consider sharing your scene exports and feedback with the developer to help shape future updates.
