Our Mixed Feelings is a narrative-driven interactive experience that puts you in the shoes of a young man starting over in a new city; this early release focuses on everyday choices, quiet exploration and character interactions rather than complex simulation systems. In Our Mixed Feelings you will visit familiar places such as a gym, supermarket, park and pharmacy, respond to social encounters, consider a job offer and shape the protagonist’s rebuilding process through decisions that affect mood and relationships across short play sessions.
The current build emphasizes story and setting. Scenes are structured around brief exploration moments and conversation-driven encounters that reveal personalities, motivations and small consequences. The project is intentionally low-pressure: interactions are designed to feel like real-life choices instead of battle or resource-heavy mechanics. The initial release introduces core locations that act as narrative hubs and establishes the tone for future expansions.
Our Mixed Feelings uses a straightforward control scheme that works well on touch devices: tap to move between locations, tap to examine items or prompts, and choose dialogue responses from short lists. Gameplay revolves around reading context, selecting responses and deciding where to go next. These mechanics are meant to be accessible to players who prefer casual, thoughtful pacing; there are no fast-twitch requirements and the interface keeps interactions simple and readable.
Progression is anchored to narrative beats rather than conventional level-up systems. Choices alter how characters react and may open or close short-term opportunities such as employment discussions or social invitations. Replay value comes from exploring alternative responses and visiting locations in different orders to see how the story and relationships shift. The early 0.1 release establishes branching possibilities while future updates are planned to expand those branches and add new scenes.
The presentation is intentionally modest and character-focused: visuals highlight everyday locations and the people who inhabit them rather than elaborate effects. Backgrounds, character portraits and interface elements are aimed at clarity to support reading and choice-making. Sound and ambient design underscore mood with unobtrusive music and environmental sounds that help convey time of day and atmosphere. The overall user experience prioritizes readable text, clear choices and a calm pace.
Design choices favor accessibility: text size and contrast are kept legible, dialogue is presented in short paragraphs for comfortable reading, and the control model avoids complex gestures. The app is suitable for short offline play sessions; once installed, many of the core scenes and choices can be experienced without a permanent network connection. This makes the experience convenient for commuting or limited-data situations.
As an early release (version 0.1) the project intentionally keeps scope small to establish characters, locations and tone. Players should expect limited content compared with larger life-sim titles: fewer characters, shorter sequences and a focus on setup rather than a complete arc. The developer, Aspel.doc, is releasing updates to grow the city, deepen character backstories and add new interactions over time. This version is best approached as the opening chapter of a character-led experience.
Our Mixed Feelings is published by Aspel.doc and is currently available in version 0.1. The release introduces the core narrative framework, primary locations and the interaction model that will guide later content. If you enjoy slow-burning, choice-driven experiences that explore everyday life and relationships, this release offers a grounded starting point and a clear direction for future updates.
